JonPaul Kaiser show at Yoyamart on Oct 11

Our friend JonPaul Kaiser is going to leap across the pond in October and run wild in the streets of Manhattan. Be warned. October 11, Toy2R has foolishly invited JPK to invade Yoyamart, a fashion and style trendsetting boutique on Gansevoort Street, where he will not doubt blow every single mind that walks through the door. Literally.

No, sorry, I meant figuratively. JPK is a giant, amazingly sweet man who I am very proud to call a friend. His talents really need no introduction. He understands form and composition, and his steady hands have brought to life some of the most brilliant custom toys that ever sold in 3.5 milliseconds at our NYCC booth. I'm stoked to meet up with JPK again. We can all expect to see beautiful Toy2R production toys, as well as custom toys, by JPK at this show.

Oct. 11th, by the way, is the opening day/preview night of NYCC 2012, so any of you in town for the Con will be able to scoot easily over to Yoyamart, which is on the west side, reasonably close to the Javits Center. See y'all there.

Kickstarter to fund Tenacious Toys Exclusive Scott Tolleson Uncle Argh NOIR

We are incredibly excited to announce our first Kickstarter project, which is intended to fund our first full run of an exclusive toy: the Uncle Argh NOIR figure is the second colorway of Scott Tolleson's popular 5" Toy2R Mini Qee. Scott is super stoked about this colorway and we are incredibly fortunate and thankful to him for allowing us to take this colorway and run with it.

The Kickstarter campaign ends on May 1st. Our goal is to raise just enough money to fund the entire 500-piece run of toys, plus the fees associated with Kickstarter campaigns, and the shipping. To that end, we have made this Kickstarter an easy one to fund: a $30 pledge gets you the Uncle Argh NOIR figure ($30 flat, including shipping, no matter where you live!). Lesser pledges get you a sticker pack or a Tolleson print. Higher pledges get you orginal Scott Tolleson sketches, paintings, or even a custom Mini Qee which Scott will make specifically for you using the Mini Qee platform of your choice!

Once May 1st hits, assuming we reach 100% funding, the money is charged to your credit card. Then it goes thru Kickstarter to us, and we send it along to Toy2R to get production started. After that, it takes about 2 months for the figures to be produced and shipped to the US. So we are looking at an arrival in July/August.

As I type this, we've already scored our first $100 pledge! I'm so excited I think I'm going to pass out.

Please click here to donate to this Kickstarter project! And please share the project online whether you donate or not. I've spent 2 years pounding this keyboard, helping promote up & coming artists, startup companies and even OTHER toy shops, so I know very well how incredibly important it is for all of us to share information on Facebook, Twitter, etc. Please help us get this project funded!

New MCA mini figure series & Sun Min Spider Boom Series 2

Incoming this year from Toy2R: A brand-new blind-boxed 3" mini figure artist series based on the new 3" MCA Ape platform. Lookit all those names!

Also, a second series of Sun Min's ridiculously cute Spider Booms. Spider Boom Series 2 will also be an artist series featuring the work of some of our favorite toy artists and customizers! How killer is this news?

We will be stocking both series; email us if you're interested in them as we'll be filling orders for early inquiries first. Toy2R lets us open the blinds so we'll also be selling open-box once these arrive.

Scott Kinnebrew Fang custom Qee for So So Happy show

Scott Kinnebrew sends us his submission to the So So Happy custom show, which involves custom Qees from over 30 artists. I must admit that despite keeping tabs on almost everything that Toy2R does, I had no idea who or what So So Happy was. So I went to their website... and I still have no idea. Apparently they are a California studio that makes stuff and donates to charity. They seems to have many characters that they license out. I DID manage to figure out that Scott's Fang custom is based on one of their characters, which is available as a plush here. Of course, Scott stuck Fang in a Stormtrooper suit! Cool custom. Here's more pics of Scott's custom Fang:

Scott writes:
Here's the Qee I'm dropping on the Toy2R / So So Happy show.  He started out as a Pig, but got a few mods and some homemade armor to wrap up the look.

I picked "Fang" after I read all the different bios because he looks like a devil, he's into custom toys, loves Mongolian BBQ, and he dresses like a Stormtrooper at Renaissance Fairs...seemed like my kind of dude.  I haven't done a Qee in a while, and it reminded me of how much I like the platform.

Jon-Paul Kaiser Captain Sturnbrau black & white in stock

We're always extra-excited when a friend of the shop has a production toy released! In this case, British artist Jon-Paul Kaiser has been working with Toy2R on this original sculpt called Captain Sturnbrau. We hosted JPK for a signing at the NYCC booth we split with Toy2R last year. Our booth was the spot where this Sturnbrau piece was revealed for the first time. Captain Sturnbrau is the salty captain of the Whispering Corsair, commanding Nathaniel Vigo (his First Mate) as well as Olaf the Mute, both of which are also production Qees made by Toy2R.

If you've been eying up the JPK customs in our shop, but they're a little more than you want to spend right now, you can get the next best thing: a production toy with the same clean and detailed black & white paint work which JPK has become known for. Toy2R did a bang-up job on these pieces.

Captain Sturnbrau is in stock now- you can buy yours here.

If you wanna follow JPK, he's very active on Twitter. Go tell him you think he's awesome.

Preorders available for the upcoming Jason Freeny Anatomy Qees

The 7-inch Visible Qee designed by Jason Freeny (which most of us call the Anatomy Qee, since Toy2R makes other Visible Qees) is coming soon. I'd anticipate that we will actually have them in early February. In the meantime, you can still preorder the regular edition (above) and the GID edition (below) from our website here for $80 each.

Urkor Malravenous Mini Qee available at Voltaire.net

The Urkor Mni Qee figure from Toy2R is now available exclusively on Voltaire's website. Scroll down and it's about halfway down- there's a Paypal "Buy Now" button and it's $35 shipped. Toy2R only made 500 of them, and Voltaire has 250 to sell. The other 250 figures were sold by Adventure Quest Worlds' online store (Heromart.com), and Heromart is now sold out.

AQW was selling these because the figure includes a special code that will unlock a shop in the game with 2 exclusive AQWorlds pets: the Necrosian Walker and the Necrosian Skullbat. There are two versions of each pet (normal pet, and also a member-only Battle Pet version which is Necromancer compatible).

I don't play AQW but I love this Qee so much that I think I might have to hit Voltaire up for one of them...
Here's the story behind the Urkor character:
There is no better companion than Voltaire’s own extraterrestrial monster teddy bear, Deady. However, Deady’s true form and name… Urkor Malravenenus was revealed during an AQW Friday the 13th special online event. This terrifying collectible 5″ Mini Qee unleashes Deady’s true nature – a cute little teddy bear that has become possessed by the greatest evil this galaxy of ours has to offer: Urkor Malravenus from planet Necronus, who, stranded on Earth in the disguise of this cute little teddy, decides to wreak havoc on mankind.

Domo Qee Series 4 REVEALED!

This is the reveal of the upcoming 2" Domo Qee Series 4, which will be released in April 2012.

Case will contain 15 blind boxes. We will, of course, be selling this series by the case, by the blind box and we'll be opening some to sell as open-box figures. Blind boxed 2" Domos sell for $8.99 each.

We still have a few 2" Domos from past releases in stock here... which reminds me, I have to update our Domo product listings because we actually have a lot more than what you can see on that page...

Nerviswr3k Custom Mini Qees for our NYCC Booth

My man Nerviswr3k has shipped us a whole gang of insane custom Mini Qees to display and sell at our NYCC Booth #876, which we're splitting with Toy2R. Nerviswr3k's heavy customization typically includes intricate gadgetry and doo-dads, combined with tentacled, toothy monsters. A unique look, to be sure- you can spot a Nervis piece a mile away. And if you're not lightning fast, that's probably as close as you'll ever come to one- people tend to buy these pieces fast and then run away quickly to get them home and into their collections!

Mike "NEMO" Mendez featured on our NYCC postcard

This year, since we are teaming up with Toy2R on a NYCC booth (#876), we wanted to go heavy on the presentation of the Toy2R product line. We therefore decided to stick a Qee on our NYCC marketing materials. We chose the 5" Mini Qee Toyer as our featured product, a sweet $15 DIY platform toy offered by Toy2R. Our side of the postcard shows a Mini Qee Toyer customized by local hero/artist Mike Mendez, aka NEMO. The reverse side, the Toy2R side, shows the Mini Qee platfrom in all its beautiful, clean, white glory, ready to be customized.

You can meet NEMO, along with Rob Ingellis and Bob Conge, at a group signing at 3PM on Saturday October 15th. These 3 artists are actively collaborating on a number of projects, so this is your chance to meet all three at once! Booth 876. Be there.
