Daniel Yu has taken some Playmobil figures and turned them into works of art. This series of 5 figures entitled "Sai Kang Warriors." The term "Sai Kang" in Chinese refers to an unpleasant and undesirable task. This series showcases 5 blue collar workers whose jobs are not desirable. Daniel Yu gave a blank and vacant expression to each of these workers to reflect how society views such laborers as ones without an identity. Each of these figures has painstaking detail, especially the construction worker with his gloves and vest- they really are very well done. I am not sure if these figures are still available but send a note to Daniel Yu at his website HERE and ask.

Some Assembly Required custom Transformers Bumblebee by Daniel Yu
Some Assembly Required is new custom by Daniel Yu. This is a repurposed Takara Tomy DMK02 Bumblebee model kit, done up for the forthcoming Transformers Cybertron Con 2012 in Singapore which runs from the 11th till the 14th of March. A total of 50 local and international artists were invited to customize either an Optimus Prime or Bumblebee kit which would be part of a custom showcase at the convention.
More amazing work by Daniel Yu! As an aside, if I ever started a band, I would call it "Superfluous Kibble." Just sayin.

Daniel Yu releasing his OMFG Crawdad Kid APs and customs Sunday
Daniel Yu was a part of the AWESOME October Toys Kickstarter-funded project called OMFG! (outlandish mini figure guys). The 2" figures in this series are an homage to our beloved M.U.S.C.L.E. men figures we all played with 20 years ago... all sculpts were developed by members of the designer toy community, and crowd-funded by artists, toy collectors and shop owners like myself!
Daniel is releasing his Artist Proof edition hot pink Crawdad Kid figures, as well as a bunch of custom Crawdad Kids, today. Go here to his store to buy them at 9PM EST tomorrow (Sunday March 4th), or check out his blog post here for more info and pics.
