Custom Horselington commission by Matt Anderson

Matt Anderson was recently commissioned by a collector (Pranay) to customize a Horselington- a fascinating figure to customize as it is such a complex platform. Basically it's a little squat dude wearing a horsehead hat. Or something. It's a big piece, about 10 inches tall. I believe Rsin, Nerviswr3k and possibly Chauskoskis were also commissioned by the same collector to customize Horselingtons. Could be wrong... but I started to see Horselingtons by those guys popping up on Facebook. In any case, a different collector suggested that I cover Matt's custom. He was a big fan and wanted to see this one get some page time. I'm a big fan of anything Matt does, so here are some pics.

Note the real metal chain mail- a nice touch which we quite frankly don't see enough of these days. I like alternative materials in a custom- bone, metal, gears... anything off the wall. Matt's got his signature mini skulls going on, and in a nod to his steampunk aesthetic, Matt uses a gear at the back of the custom to hold his sword on. But what's really cool about this Horselington custom is the color-change resin Matt used on the horse's head:

Sweet work Matt!

Matt Anderson Christmas Contest: FREE CUSTOMS!

Get ready everyone: Matt Anderson has a great giveaway idea this holiday season: he's going to give away two of his amazing customs to two worthy people! Here are the details, straight from Matt:

It just hit me....I want to do a special Christmas custom give-a-way. So, here's the plan: I want anyone and everyone that really likes what I do, but just can't afford to purchase one of my works for their collection, to write your reason why I should give you a free custom (mini or normal sized...none of that 3" stuff haha).

It can be something thats happened to you thats heart-wrenching or something extremely good that would make me say, "Damn that's just so awesome."

I don't want any made up crap though... take this seriously. Once you have decided what you want to send... you send it to my wife Jamie Anderson.... she has got to be the most kind hearted, selfless woman I have ever met and she will pick 2 winners. One male and one female.

I dont care if these are for you or your children or even if you would like to win them to give to someone else less fortunate... but I want something good to come for Xmas... and from me for once.......

So you think you guys and gals can handle that? Then hop to it! Cut off is Nov. 25 and I must receive at least 6 entries for this contest to work but the more the merrier .... remember send all entries to my wife here.

Matt Anderson's The Reaver custom 16" Qee at our NYCC booth

Behold: The Reaver, a new, as yet unseen, custom 16" Toy2R Qee by Matt Anderson! Will be for sale at NYCC Booth 876, where we'll be hosting this biggest, baddest custom show you've ever seen at a comic-con. The Reaver is priced at $2,500, and it's one-of-a-kind.

I was just talking to Kevin Winnik (President of Toy2RUSA) today and he asked me if we were going to be able to fit the customs we're bringing into the booth.
Yes, I answered, yes, it'll be tight, but they'll fit.  Sure. *wink*

Somewhere, among a few hundred Toy2R production toys by JPK, Jason Freeny, Emilio Garcia, we're going to have about 75 custom Qees crammed into every corner of the booth.
It will be the definitive mecca at NYCC for those of you who dig custom toys. Everything from 2.5" custom Qees by Rampage Toys, all the way up to eight or nine 16" custom Qees towering above your head....
Not to mention resin toys, and even custom Qees incorporating cast resin pieces! Madness.
Expect many, many more posts here about the insane customs as we run up to NYCC. Booth 876.
Come and play!

Matt Anderson is going to be coming up to New York with a few amazing custom pieces that will knock your socks off. We both agreed we wanted this one to be somewhat of a surprise, so here's all you get for now: this aggravatingly cropped teaser image of a large-scale Toy2R Qee he customized for our NYCC Booth (#876). Matt will be signing alongside Rsin at our booth at 1PM on Friday October 14th.

Just a warning: When you actually see this custom fully revealed, there's a 90% chance you will scream and die immediately.
Also: Matt loves this custom so much that, if you survive the unveiling and you want to buy it, you might actually have to fight him for it in a brutal cage match.

If you want to get the scoop on what Matt's working on, follow his Facebook.

SNEAK PEEK: Matt Anderson 16-inch Chocolate Qeester Bunee

So it took me a few months but I finally acquired the 16" Bunee Qees Matt Anderson wanted to buy (sorry Matt!). Naturally I was expecting him to turn one into an electronic barbarian Bunee that lights up and rotates wildly and throws things at people.

But Matt loves to keep people on their toes, so he decided to turn the first 16" Bunee into a giant chocolate Easter Bunny, err... Chocolate Qeester Bunee
Satiny milk chocolate finish, creepy evil stare. Yup, it's awesome!  I feel like this little guy is a little pissed off that someone was nibbling on his ear. Can't wait to see this one in person.

FYI in October Matt Anderson will be signing at our NYCC booth alongside Rsin. A signing you won't wanna miss... The Cultyard is where it's at! For us art toys freaks, that is.
