Who's Ready For Some Black Magic?

Fuller is up to some of his New Orleans "Black Magic" tricks again. After the much success of his first series of "Black Magic" Dunny characters, Fuller decided to do a series 2. Featuring 5 different creatures from the deepest realms of "Black Magic" this set has the colorful vibrance and beautiful ambiance that is to be expected from a Fuller Dunny Set. My favorite from this set is the lizard with the studded dog collar. Who wouldn't want a pet lizard that looked like that? Fuller's Grr Dunny custom turned into limited-edition skate deck

 Last year Fuller did a dunny custom which he called "Grr" (above). Fuller says: "The story behind Grrr is he is a little monster that lives in the forest. He doesn't want to be a monster so he dresses up like a tiger and runs around growling and scaring the little forest animals. I still love Grrr and I wanted to dedicate my next board to that character. I will be doing a whole campaign revolving around this character. I have T-shirts, pins and even a plush in the works for him. I hope you will like it."

Fuller's Grrr deck is available for preorder in his shop here. They'll be shipping in May, and he's only making 10. They'll all be signed and numbered. This looks like a sweet deck, and one that I'd proudly hang on my wall. (I ride too messy to even consider bolting trucks to something like this) Personally I'm very excited for the Grr t-shirts and plushes he has in the works.

Shawn Wigs Calendario Dunny customs

 Shawn Wigs has released a whole gang of new Dunny customs based on the Calendario Dunny from Azteca Series II. I liked them so much that I picked up one of the green ones... and my man Foox picked one up as well. You can grab one for yourself, in several colorways, in Shawn's shop here. 

Also available there are the Silly Rabbits Dunny series which Shawn put together, featuring the custom work of Shawn Wigs, of course, plus Mike Die, Fuller, BALD, Nerviswrek, JC Rivera and Ghostface Killah from Wu-Tang.

New from Fuller: Rebel Western, Mega Munny & So So Happy

 

Fuller shares with us 3 of his most recent pieces: above is a Rebel Ink figure which seems to be a favorite with many customizers. Fuller was given this one as a commission and was tasked with giving it an Old West feel. The other criteria was using the colors red, black, gray and white. I wonder if the customer knew how amazingly bad-ass it would turn out?

The sick piece above is actually a Kidrobot Mega Munny, which means it started out 18 inches tall! And with Fuller's sculpting/accessorizing, it's probably more like 20 inches now. That's a BIG friggin custom. It's like the size of my whole apartment. Here's what Fuller said:

I wanted to do add something to my Black Magic series. I don't do very many Mega Munny so I thought I would make him into one. I did a ton of more sculpting on this than I normally would. I have to say it was really fun. This was my original design of Voodoo from series one, but I decided to do a brown version. Thinking I like this one better. He will be for sale.

OK, so I'm starting to get this whole So So Happy Qee show. So So Happy has a number of characters of their own, which the artists are incorporating into their work. And to be honest, despite looking at different artists' and companies' characters day in and day out, I have to say that I really enjoy the So So Happy characters. You can see them all here. They're cute, and there's a bunch of them. 

Fuller writes: This is my entry for the SO SO Happy Project. I chose the character TRIBE. I wanted to add a few other characters and what better place than his mouth! 

One of the strongest elements of this piece, and many of Fuller's pieces, is his use of bright colors contrasting with black. I dig that about his work.

So So Happy x Toy2R Custom Qee Project

Toy2R is thrilled to jump into 2012 with a new DIY project, especially when it’s tied to one of the fastest growing brands – So So Happy. In collaboration, between Toy2R and So So Happy, an incredible roster of artists have been invited to customize 8” Qees inspired by the So So Happy characters and brand. Over 30 artists are taking part in this project and the Qees will be displayed at venues and trade shows across the country for 2012.

Kings of Seasons Dunny series by Fuller: final product

Fuller sends us images of his completed Kings of Seasons Dunny Series. Not surprisingly, the finished product looks EXACTLY like his illustrations. Look at those wild colors! I'm so impressed by Fuller's work- he releases these concept illustrations and then simply carries them out perfectly. It's insane.

The Kings of Seasons series is sold out... sorry! Certainly worth posting about, though. If you missed these figures, keep an eye on Fuller's shop for future preorders going up. Seems to be the only way to grab some of his work.

Black Magic II Dunny series by Fuller

Fuller's sweet Black Magic II series releases in April- he's currently accepting preorders here. These look freaking amazing- Fuller deftly executes both the illustration and customization aspects of his product design.


I had so much fun making the first series I wanted to do another with new characters using 3" Dunnys. Characters include Priest (variant), Shadow, Bayou Witch, Gator, and Zombie Stew. They are up for preorder in my store at only $65 each and they come with a 4"x6" print. Series releases in April 2012 and only five of each design will be made.

Kings of the Seasons 3-inch Dunny Series by Fuller

James Fuller is one of the most recognized and most prolific customizers working today. His talents are immediately evident when you look at the detailed work he puts into each piece. Fuller is currently accepting preorders for his upcoming 3-inch Dunny series titled "Kings of the Seasons." Each piece is $65 + shipping. Obviously, there are 4 characters, and Fuller will make 4 of each piece (16 total pieces). You can preorder yours here. Incredible work! Fuller has a real eye for graphics.
