DAVEMARKART And His Incredible Monster Madness...

Although this lizard zombie "Mouth's To Feed" is already sold, I just had to write a post showcasing the amazing talent DAVEMARKART has. I absolutely love this Lizard/Snake or whatever reptile that this might be representing! All those evil hand sculpted teeth along with the headed arms makes this an amazingly sculpted custom that I cannot stop staring at. One thing that never disappoints is DAVEMARKART's color usage. All of his customs seem to have the right combination of bright splashy colors along with some more muted tones and it always just works. If you would like to check out what other customs that are available from DAVEMARKART please check out his store HERE. Tenacious Toys also has a few cool ones like the Hive shown below and can be purchased HERE.

Acid Flow custom Munny by South African artist The Given

South African artist Abe Viljoen (aka The Given) sends us images of his 7" Munny entitled “Acid Flow”.  Abe writes: This piece started out as some fun for myself, getting back to my roots in graffiti and letting it come out more heavily in my vinyl work. I was quite happy to be creating a toy with only myself to please, but I must admit I was even happier when it ended up selling before it was even finished! The toy was officially unveiled at the Toffie Pop Festival here in Cape Town on the 31/03/12.

I must admit, I really dig this old-skool graffiti style with the bubble letters and arrows and bright colors. Follow Abe on his website www.thegiven.co.za and on Twitter @givencollective

Black & White Mini Munny custom by Reddprime

This sick Mini Munny custom by Reddprime stands nearly 8 inches tall (yep, that's a lot of sculpting and construction work in there- the little Mini Munny is twice as tall as when he started).

Black & White is the villain from from  Ro-dunny series, a rebuilt cyborg. Unfortunately they forgot to replace his heart so he lands up defending that which he destroys... either that or he just likes fire alot.

Reddprime (aka Mitch) is a talented artist from South Africa... you can follow him on Twitter here. You can purchase this custom here.

mfc custom by Carson Catlin- a tribute to his father- to be auctioned

From Carson Catlin:
My father, Melvin, was diagnosed with Stage Lung 3 cancer in late August of 2011. He was given a regimen of Chemo and radiation. A few long months later, he was told he was in remission. Unfortunately, our joy was short lived as he developed a gnarly case of Pneumonia. After months of failed treatments, he couldn't go anymore and had to be admitted to the hospital.
I got to go home and spend a solid week with my father - for that I am very grateful. The day I got back home to Kansas City, I spoke to my father and his spirits were high. He told me he would be getting out that week which put me at ease. The next morning my mother called me to let me know that my father had a convulsion in the middle of the night and was now on a ventilator. It was discovered then, that he had 3 brain tumors. He left us a week later from septicemia.

mfc - his initials - is a 7" munny created to symbolize my fathers cancer that eventually took his life.
The right lung is visible (location of the initial tumor) and so are the three circles on the back of the head (tumors in his brain). Everything radiates from the tumors representing the septicemia. He is colored with a southwest blend of colors as my father was fond of them.

"mfc" will be auctioned off at the "Shave to Save Art Auction"
The event will take place in the VML Gallery on the third floor of 2020 (aka third-floor kitchenette) with an art preview between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. and silent auction between 6:30 and 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, and complimentary snacks and adult beverages will be served.

Don P HALO Master Chief and Revenge of the Dead Ninja Dunnys

Don P flexes his luscles and shows us that he's no one-trick pony: instead of customizing his usual Kidrobot Mascots, here he shows us his 3" custom Dunnys: A Ninja from Revenge of the Dead (above) and Master Chief from HALO. I like that fact that Patrick has made sweet (and appropriate) accessories for these pieces, and that his work seems to be progressing. He's learning and developing his style as he goes. Always fascinating to watch that happen. Here are his links in case you want to follow along more closely:  Facebook - Blog - Shop

New Thundercats customs by Jeff Beck

In our never-ending quest to seek out and work with cool artists, we ran across Jeff Beck. Or he ran across us. I can't remember.... anyway, Jeff does awesome character customs so when we were talking about what he should do for our site, I asked Jeff what he was into and he gave me a list of some comics, shows, cartoons.... and we decided upon the new Thundercats! Above are the work-in-progress shots he just sent us of his new Thundercats custom Munnys: Mum-Ra, Panthro and Lion-o, from left to right.
This is the back of Jeff's Lion-O custom, which will be flocked!

This is the back of the Panthro custom, in progress
Jeff started to experiment with the flocking on Lion-O's arm, and it looks AWESOME!
Once this series of customs is finished, they'll be for sale in our shop. I'll make a Jeff Beck page in our custom toy section so they'll be easy to find. Keep an eye on our blog for more updates on Jeff's Thundercat customs!
